BARCELONA
BARCELONA is an intense city – full of life and culture. Our stay in Barcelona involved exploring the stunning architecture of Antoni Gaudi, tasting delicious Catalan cuisine and soaking up the Mediterranean sun on one of the city’s beautiful beaches even though it was February 2022.

We have started with the walk to the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s masterpiece of a church that has been under construction for over a century. The complexity of the design and the scale of the building are sure to leave visitors in awe. Next, we explored the charming streets of the Gothic Quarter that led us to a stop at a traditional café for a cup of rich, dark coffee and a sweet bomba de chocolate. Check out below map with details of walk tour around Bacelona.

That made us ready to approach Park Güell, another of Gaudi’s masterpieces that offers breathtaking views of the city and the chance to relax in a beautiful green space. This place evolved into a colorful mosaic-filled park blending natural forms with imaginative structures. It is located on Carmel Hill, it offers stunning views of the city and showcases Gaudí’s signature modernist style. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see for anyone visiting Barcelona. As lunchtime approaches, the city’s many markets offer a chance to taste some of the region’s finest ingredients.

The food markets in Barcelona are places to explore local culture and cuisine. The most famous one is located in the city center, La Boqueria, offers a vide range of fresh products, seafood, meats, and traditional Catalan specialties. This market is not just for shopping, it is also popular for enjoying tapas, fresh juices, and local delicacies with friends and family.

As the day draws to a close, a visit to the beach is a must. The city’s long coastline offers plenty of options, from the bustling Barceloneta to the quieter, more secluded coves further along the coast. A dip in the Mediterranean sea and a cold drink like a glass of sangria is the perfect way to end a day in Barcelona and do not forget to taste traditional Catalan dish paella.

On the last day we visited one of the city’s art galleries. There is plenty to choose from – our choice was modern art museum Moco Museum. In just a few days in Barcelona we have experienced a wonderful mix of culture, food, and relaxation. Now, towards new directions!
