CÔTE D'AZUR

Our stay in the FRENCH RIVIERA, also known as the Côte d’Azur, has been wonderful experience filled with breathtaking landscapes, charming towns, and a chance to touch of luxury in MONACO, NICE and CANNES. Our stay in September 2022, when the weather was not so hot anymore, but the temperature of the water still warm, turned out to be the perfect time to rest and explore.

We have started with exploring Nice, one of the largest cities in the region. The walk through the famous Promenade des Anglais, which is iconic waterfront promenade offers views of the Mediterranean Sea. We have enjoyed the fresh sea breeze, took in the beautiful scenery, and relaxed on the beach with incredible warm water. The beaches there are mostly rocky, but we have found sandy one as well – in Cannes, this city is known for its prestigious film festival.

This is also the place where we have found local market which hosts a daily flower, lavender products and food market. Right behind the corner there was also the old town – with its narrow streets, colorful buildings, and lively marketplace. It was the perfect way to hide from the sun!

At the end of Promenade des Anglais we have climbed up to Castle Hill to enjoy panoramic views of Nice and its surroundings. While the original castle no longer exists, the hill offers beautiful gardens, waterfalls, and viewpoints. You can reach the top on foot or by an elevator.

One of the places that you ‘must see’ is located in the heart of Nice. Place Masséna is a square known for its stunning architecture. We have admired the impressive Belle Époque facades, including the famous red facade of the Palais de Justice.

We have finished our trip by visiting the glamorous principality of Monaco – the second smallest country is located at the Côte d’Azur. Straight from the train we headed to the luxurious Monte Carlo Casino and take a walk around its beautiful gardens.

With just a walk the through charming streets of the old town, known as Monaco-Ville, we have admired the unique architecture of this town.  We have decided to go up to the Prince’s Palace where we could admire stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and visit the Oceanographic Museum, which houses an impressive collection of marine life.

French Riviera has many more attractions and towns to explore, so if you have more time, consider extending your visit to fully enjoy the beauty and charm of this stunning region.
