PALERMO

Weekend in PALERMO offers a blend of history, culture, and delicious cuisine. In February 2023 we decided on a short city break to bask in the sun and feel the refreshing sea breeze. It turns out that this destination has much more to offer: opportunity to explore the city’s historic sites, delicious Sicilian cuisine, and Mediterranean atmosphere that can be feel in every corner of this city.

We have started with exploring streets of the city to see its diverse architectural styles which led us to Palazzo dei Normanni.This majestic palace, also known as the Royal Palace, is surrounded by serene gardens and greenery, creating a perfect oasis in the heart of the city. 

Nevertheless the most impressive landmark in the city is Cattedrale di Palermo. This impressive medieval cathedral is a magnificent architectural gem located in the heart of Palermo. The Cattedrale di Palermo offers a unique opportunity to explore its roof and enjoy breathtaking views of the city. It is an unforgettable experience, which offers incredible way to appreciate the beauty of Palermo!


Nothing can be more important than the break for the something sweet to eat! Via Maqueda is one of the main streets in Palermo, renowned for its historical significance and intense atmosphere. Stretching from the heart of the city to the bustling Quattro Canti square, this iconic street is lined with charming cafes, and restaurants. We had a change to taste there iconic arancini, cannoli, gelato and even more pizza. If you need more food experience you can visit Mercato di Vucciria  which is just nearby, where you can also taste sample local delicacies.

Just before the sun goes down we have visited the Orto Botanico di Palermo. This Botanical Garden of Palermo, is a delightful oasis located in the heart of the city. This lush garden is home to a diverse collection of plant species from around the world. The perfect way to spend the evening is to take a stroll along the waterfront promenade of Foro Italico. Enjoying the sea breeze and splendid views is the perfect way to feel the atmosphere of this Sicilian city!
